Obituary for Angela Hayakawa (Liester)

Angela Elaine (Liester) Hayakawa
October 30, 1968 - August 16, 2022

Angela Elaine (Liester) Hayakawa, 53, of Fort Walton Beach FL passed away on August 16, 2022 peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday August 21, 2022 at Saint Simon's Episcopal Church located at 28 Miracle Strip Parkway in Fort Walton Beach, Florida with the Bishop Russell Kendrick officiating. She
will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont, Nebraska following a service at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont at 11 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Angie Hayakawa was born in Fremont Nebraska to Margaret Elaine Liester and Leland Clifford Liester on October 30, 1968. She was a 1987 graduate of Archbishop Bergan Catholic High School. She received her BA in Spanish from University of Nebraska, Lincoln and was a proud alumni. After graduating, she studied for a year in Mexico. While there, she made many friends and they traveled throughout South America together, as their schedules allowed. She married Tatsuya Hayakawa in October 1994 in Fremont, Nebraska. She worked as a translator for 15 years with the Florida Department of Health before discovering her love for teaching. In 2017 her work with Okaloosa Florida County Schools began. She became an interpreter teaching English as a Second Language at Elliott Point Elementary School.

Angie will always be remembered for her magnetic smile, compassionate personality and her love of cats. Her natural ability to see the best in every person she met made loving her easy. She was a leader rather than a follower being more concerned about doing right than being popular. It was this mindset that made her popularity blossom.

On July 9, 2008 her life was fulfilled with the birth of her daughter Ocean Elaine Liester. She was a very dedicated mother. When her daughter joined Girl Scouts, Angie became the Troop Leader and they kept up with it for several years. The two of them had a passion for cats of all nature. Together, they volunteered at Save Our Cats and Kittens, SOCK's, as an advocate for stray and needy felines.

Angela Elaine Hayakawa is preceded in death by her husband Tatsuya Hayakawa, her mother Margaret (Pearson) Liester, her father Leland Liester, her sisters Sheryl (Liester) Kocour, Lori (Liester) Simpson, Susan Liester and her brother-in-law Jerry Johnston.

Angie is survived by her daughter Ocean Elaine Liester, brothers Deland Liester and wife C.O., Jerry Liester and wife Shelley, Patrick Liester and wife Glenda, and Michael Liester and wife Rachel, half-brother David Knutson, sisters Gwen (Liester) Johnston, DeAnna (Liester) Root and husband Steve, Rhonda (Liester) Campbell and husband Dan, numerous nieces and nephews and her cat Lino.

The family of Angela Elaine Hayakawa wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Emerald Coast Cancer Treatment Center and Regency Hospice who were always encouraging and kind.
