Obituary for Betty Waechter (Fast)

Betty (Fast) Waechter of Peoria, Arizona, passed peacefully with family on Friday, March 4, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Jessie (Klocke) Fast and her sister, Joyce Markworth.
She is survived by her husband, Ed of Peoria, Arizona and son, Nathan Waechter. Sisters, Jan (Rod) Balak of Colorado Springs and Shirley (Larry) Kreikemeier of Fremont, NE. Brother, Ray (Roxann) Fast of West Point, NE and sisters in laws, Catherine (Ron) Bevil of Chicago, Ill and Nancy Schultz of Des Moines, IA; and multiple nephews and nieces.

Betty was a loving and tolerant wife, devoted mother, and dedicated nurse.
Betty was born in West Point, NE, and grew up in Beemer, NE. She went to the Methodist College of Nursing and received a BSN degree. She embarked on a nursing career at Immanuel Hospital and Methodist Hospital until taking a respite to raise her son. Along the way, she worked at Borsheims selling jewelry until returning to nursing later in life.

After moving from Omaha, to Texas, then to Arizona following her husband’s career, they settled in Peoria, Arizona at Trilogy Vistancia, the place she chose for their retirement. She enjoyed golfing, quilting, swimming, mahjongg, and playing piano.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Closed casket visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM following the visitation on Sunday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Creighton Prep in Omaha or Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sun City West, AZ.
