Obituary for David Smith
David W. Smith age, 74 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his home. He was born July 9, 1947 in Fremont to Charles and Marguerite (Reier) Smith.
David graduated from Fremont Senior High School and then served in the US Army from August 1, 1967 to July 22, 1970 primarily in Europe during Vietnam.
He lived in Fremont other than traveling for work. David was a union welder for the gas pipeline industry. He really enjoyed his time working in San Diego, CA.
He was a member of the Gas & Pipeline Welders Union and a senior member of the Doodle Bug Club of America for over 30 years. He enjoyed restoring cars, scooters and his speedboat. His took care of his mother in her later years and loved his dogs.
David is survived by his daughters, Stacie (Jeff) Shelton of Fremont & Sarah (Paul) Anderson of Cedar Bluffs, NE; son, Matt (Kristi) Smith of Fremont; brother, Jeff (Joyce) Smith; sister, Coral Jean (Dale) Nelson all of Tucson, AZ; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife, Mardine (Marquardt).
Graveside Service will be 11 A.M., Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Rev. Richard Crooks will officiate. Military honors will follow conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post. #854 and American Legion Post #20.
