Obituary for Donald Sindelar
Donald G. Sindelar, 91, of Fremont, NE, passed away, November 25, 2022, at CHI Health Bergan Mercy in Omaha, NE.
Donald was born September 21, 1931, in Primrose, NE, to Joseph and Barbara (Widhalm) Sindelar. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Connelly on June 28, 1954, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, NE. He resided in Platte Center and Columbus before moving to the Fremont area in 1955. He moved into Fremont 3 years later.
Donald was a machinist and worked at Adams Motor Company, Peterson Machinery, and J and N Machinery. He was employed at Archbishop Bergan School before retiring in 1998.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. He enjoyed mastering puzzles and playing bingo.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Douglas) Ranslem of Buckeye, Arizona; sons, Gary Sindelar of Council Bluffs, IA and Bradley (Shari) Sindelar of Corydon, IA; brothers, Jim (Nancy) Sindelar, Joseph (Janice) Sindelar, and Charles (Pat) Sindelar; sisters, Lois (Mike) Wilke, Ruth (Ron) Asche, Linda (Dennis) Hillen, and Barb Noonan; 2 grandchildren, Colby (Caleina) Ranslem and Casey Sindelar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Sindelar; brothers, Roland, infant brother James, and Alvin Sindelar; sisters, Delores Bogus, and infant sister, Margaret.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 1, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM following the visitation. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
