Obituary for Dorothy Chromy

Dorothy M. Chromy, age 88 years, of Morse Bluff, NE died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Fremont Area Medical Center. She was born March 12, 1923 in Omaha, NE to Charles and Matilda (Riedman) Prchal. She grew up in Omaha. Dorothy married Stephan F. “Steve” Chromy January 18, 1945 at St. Rose Church in Omaha. Steve died July 30, 1986. After her marriage she lived at Malmo, NE 10 years then moved to Morse Bluff. She worked for several years at Blevins Popcorn Plant in North Bend and she provided child care. She moved to North Bend in 2003. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Morse Bluff and the altar society. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #340 of Morse Bluff and V.F. W. Auxiliary Post #8223 of North Bend. She enjoyed bingo, baking and her friends at North Bend Estates and the Senior Center. Survivors include: sons – Steve and wife Audrey Chromy of North Bend, NE, Robert and wife Sandy Chromy, and Edward and wife Becky Chromy all of Fremont, NE, and Donald Chromy of North Bend; daughters – Kathy and husband Dan Bauer of Morse Bluff, NE and Jeanne and husband Mike Quinn of Columbus, NE; brothers – Thomas and wife Lorraine Prchal of Storm Lake, IA and Louis and wife Ginny Prchal of Plattsmouth, NE; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Steve; son – Thomas Chromy; daughter-in-law – Doris Chromy; 2 brothers – Charles & Raymond Prchal; 2 grandsons – Robert Chromy and Nicholas Bauer; granddaughter – Tonya Chromy; and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 18, 2011 at St. George Catholic Church in Morse Bluff, NE with Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 17th 2-8 P.M. with family receiving friends 5-7 P.M. and a Rosary/Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, NE. Visitation will continue at the funeral home 8:30-9:30 A.M. Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Morse Bluff. Memorials may be directed to St. George Catholic Church, North Bend Senior Center or American Legion Auxiliary of Morse Bluff.
