Obituary for Douglas Frerichs
Douglas D. Frerichs of Fremont, NE died April 3, 2022 at Lancaster Rehabilitation Services in Lincoln, NE at the age of 83.
He was born August 19, 1938 in Wisner, NE to Herman and Mabel (Brahmer) Frerichs.
At the age of 18, Douglas enlisted with the U.S. Navy and spent most of his time stationed in Alaska . After his discharge, he joined the bricklayers union as an apprentice and was later employed by Hawkins Construction of Omaha. He married Mary Ann Hall in 1963. They had one daughter, Shawn. They later divorced. Doug was a master craftsman and eventually went on to own and operate his own masonry company in Fremont until his retirement in 2004.
He loved flying, bullhead fishing, pheasant hunting, gardening and of course, brick work.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Shawn Escamilla of Fremont, NE; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Donna Murphy and Iris Buchta both of Fremont. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
