Obituary for Frank Sopinski

Frank Sopinski died on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Fremont, NE. He was 79 years old.

Born in South Omaha, Frank grew up with a gang of lifelong friends from Creighton Prep, Creighton University (go Bluejays!), and the U.S. Army where he served as an MP.

Phillips Department Store liquor department was his first job in management. From there, he made a lifelong career in hospital purchasing. In 1994, he became Director of Materials Management at Fremont Area Medical Center. Frank’s colleagues were “super duper” and he was proud to help the hospital expand and to procure the latest advances. He died at the same hospital surrounded by family and in the care of many former co-workers for which his family is eternally grateful.

The most important thing to Frank was his family. If you knew him, you knew all about his wife, Carol; son Tim (Sara) Sopinski; daughter Tammy (Jay) Perlman; grandchildren, Myles, Loudon, Mila, Henry, and Hazel. Survived by brother John (Dee) Sopinski. Love ya. Love ya.

Memorial Mass will be 10 AM, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Fr. Walter Nolte will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Rosary starting at 7 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Bellevue, NE.
