Gene F. Blankenfeld, 72 years, of Hooper, NE formerly Lincoln, NE passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at his home.

Gene was born on September 18, 1950 to Dale and Phyllis (Drake) Blankenfeld in Omaha, NE. He grew up in Omaha and moved to Lincoln where he lived most of his life. Gene married Cindy “Ottis” Kotas. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railway for over 30 years. He enjoyed motorcycles and old cars.

He was preceded by his wife; parents; and sister, Caroline.

He is survived by his daughter, Trish Buckley; son, Mike Blankenfeld; sister, Barb Barone; brothers, Jim (Pat) Blankenfeld, Jerry (Shirley) Blankenfeld, and Russell (Deb) Blankenfeld; and grandchildren, Trisha (Brent) Baker, MJ Blankenfeld, Morgan (Nicholas) Caprio, and Drake Blankenfeld; great grandchildren, Ryleigh Baker and Bently Baker.

A celebration of life service will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, NE.
