Obituary for James House

James Jerold House, age 71, of Fremont, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, after his battle with cancer.

James was born November 11, 1949, to Jerold and Anna (Belak) House in Gregory, SD. He attended Linden Elementary School and Fremont Jr. and Sr. High School. He graduated in 1968 from Fremont High School. After graduation he attended United Electronics Institute in Des Moines, IA until drafted to serve in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. Upon returning home he was employed at Western Electric in Omaha, Golden Sun Feeds, Shade Pasta and Fremont Health all in Fremont. He retired in 2014 and then became the daycare for his granddaughter, Stella. He married Lynette Peters on September 4, 1976 in Scribner, NE.

Jim was active in Boy Scouts as a youth and served as a Den Leader and Boy Scout Leader with Pack and Troop 104. He was active during the time his sons went thru scouting.

He was a member of the Fremont Area VFW, American Legion, DAV, and St. James Episcopal Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and was a “Special” uncle to many of his nieces and nephews. He also befriended and nurtured several of his rental tenants, helping them in various ways to keep their lives on track. His patience and heart of gold showed through many times. He also was very proud to be a Veteran and able to celebrate his birthday on Veteran’s day.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and mother and father in law, Aaron and Darlene Peters.
James is survived by his wife, Lyn; sons, Jeremy House of Omaha, and Jason (Meghan) House of Fremont; granddaughter, Stella House; sisters, Darlene (Ron) Petersen of Choctaw, OK, Marlene (Bob) Roumph of Millard, NE, Pearl (Larry) Clarke and Pam Peterson both of Fremont; brother and sister in laws, Lowell (Patty) Peters, Gayle (Nancy) Peters and Gary Peters of Scribner, Linda Giese of Lincoln, Lorna (Norman) Ruskamp of Dodge, NE; many nieces and nephews and special cousin Tony Belak.

Private family services will be held.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date due to Covid Restrictions.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Fremont’s Veterans Park, or Ave of Flags, or the Fremont Area Marine Corp League Detachment.
