Obituary for Larry Drews

Larry R. Drews, 86 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Monday, October 3, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Larry was born on January 10, 1936 to George and Anna (Stange) Drews in Yutan, NE. He moved to Fremont in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from April 1957 to September 1958. He was on overseas service European command. Larry received the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter, and Marksman Awards. After serving in the Army, he met the love of his life and married Rolene Bradfield on December 11, 1959 at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. In 1959, he started working for Hanson Transfer and retired in 2001.

Larry was a member of the F.O.E. Eagles 200 and the Fremont Airboat Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, fishing, air boating, and being at the river. He was an avid Husker fan. He loved to spend time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sports activities.

Larry was the last of his surviving siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rolene; brothers, Donald “Dudley”, Leo, Lenus, George, and Darryll; sisters, Margueritte, Georgianna, Delores, Phyllis, Rosella, Vernell, and Beverly.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori Drews (husband, Doug Heller); sons, Robin, Rollie, and Russell Drews; 7 grandchildren, Brian Drews, Brad Drews, Breanne Drews (Ryan Baker), Amanda Bird (Eric Kreikemeier), Andrew (Tessa) Bird, Adam Drews (fiancé, Laura King), and Brandon Drews; and 6 great grandchildren, Bowdy, Korbyn, Riggin, Aria, Cashtyn, and Tayson.

A Memorial Service will be 2 P.M., Friday, October 7, 2022 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Pastor Shari Schwedhelm will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Moser’s.

A Celebration of Life will follow the service at 2063 Lot K Big Island Road in Fremont. Family and friends are welcome to wear their Husker attire.
