Obituary for Merri Karr (Mattes)
Merri J. Karr, 61 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2023 at Methodist Fremont Health. She was born August 19, 1961 in Garden City, Kansas to Ronald and Mary (Simon) Mattes.
She grew up in the Leshara, NE and Yutan, NE areas and graduated from Yutan High School. After raising her children, she then worked at the Rail Crew Express for several years. When her children started having her grandchildren, she became a nanny for them. She was a proud cancer survivor."
She is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Zackery) Swahn, Brittany (Jacob) Brown and Melissa (Brandon) McElroy all of Fremont; step-daughter, Jayme (Shane) Muhle of Florida; father, Ronald Mattes of Omaha; mother, Mary Stuenkel Lang of Uehling, NE; sisters, Sherri (Dale) Tharp of Fremont, Terri (Ron) Dunaway of Hooper and step-sister, Andrea Regier-Venditte; brothers, Ronald (Cindy) Mattes of Hooper and Randy (Amanda) Stuenkel of Ames; 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Merri was preceded in death by her sister, Suzanne Stuenkel; step-father, Marvin Lang; step-mother, Mabel Mattes; grandparents, Albert Simon, Ellen (Fred) Vossler and Raymond (Helen) Mattes’ and niece Emily Rose Tharp.
Funeral will be 10:30 am, Friday, March 24, 2023 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 pm also at Moser’s. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials are suggested to the family for a future designation.
