Obituary for Randall Marymee
It is with deep sorrow and much love we announce the passing of Randall (Randy) Hansen Marymee (Scribner, NE), on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the age of 76 years.
Randy was born to Randall and Merle Hansen in 1945. He graduated from Omaha North High School in 1963. While attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha, he asked a mutual friend to introduce him to Karen Points. Randy and Karen were married in 1970 and together raised three children, Katie, Sarah, and Randy.
Randy taught biology and vocational agriculture, and later served as a high school principal and school superintendent. From an early age, Randy was passionate about horses. He bought his first horse when he was 12 years old. He delivered newspapers to pay to board his horse, and he would ride his bike to the barn after his paper route every day. Randy warned Karen horses were a hobby he would never outgrow - and he never did. The only thing he was more passionate about then his horses was his family Randy spent hours with his kids, riding horses and hauling the trailer to 4-H horse shows and high school rodeos. Many memories were made in the barn and the arena. Once his kids were grown, Randy was able to pursue roping himself. He was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to do what he loved, and he especially loved sharing this activity with his son. Randy was known for his cowboy hat and boots, his quick smile, his stories, and his willingness to help friends and family. Randy was always optimistic, and believed every day would be a good day.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Randall Hansen and Merle Marymee, and his sister, Janet Ashton.
Randy will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Karen, and his children, Katie (Craig) Wells of Malvern, IA, Sarah Marymee (Matthew Petersen) of Blair, NE and Randy (T.K.) Marymee of West Point, NE; grandchildren Justin, Megan, Cameron, Mark, Mackenzie, Romie and Maggie Wells of Malvern, IA, and Randall Chance Marymee of West Point, NE; brothers Mike (Fran) Marymee of Lincoln, NE and, Patrick (Nancy) Marymee of Houston, TX, and sister Joyce (Von) Ackerman of Denver, Co, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25 at the Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, NE. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Persia, IA.
