Obituary for Rose Hassler (Guenther)

Rose Hassler, 96 years of Fremont, NE passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Dunklau Gardens. Rose was born on the family farm west of West Point, NE on October 6, 1926 to Alphonse and Elizabeth (Prinz) Guenther.

She attended District 10 county school and then Guardian Angel School in West point. Rose married Willis Hassler on April 26, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West point, NE. They were blessed with five children: Ronald, Richard, Diane, Judy and Randy.

Rose worked at Langemeir Locker in Mead, NE for 4 years and did house cleaning for over 42 years. She was a volunteer caller for the Red Cross for many years and belonged to several social groups. Rose was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and belonged to St. Joan of Arc group.

Rose was a loving, sharing, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew her. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed going to many activities for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her flowers, yard, and garden were her pride and joy. She loved Polka music and listened to it on the radio every Sunday.

Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, Willis; parents, Alphonse and Elizabeth Guenther; son, Ron; brother, Paul; sister, Josephine Brunsing; daughter-in-law, Marlene Hassler; granddaughter, Amy Hassler; and special friend, Emil Havelka.

She is survived by her children, Richard Hassler, Randy (Anne) Hassler, Diane (Lynn) Berkland, Judy (Morris) Rusch; daughter-in-law, Jo Hassler; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 4 great greatgrandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren, 4 step great greatgrandchildren; brother, Albert (Irene) Guenther; and many friends and relatives.

Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M., Monday, May 22, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. with a rosary starting at 6 P.M. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in West Point, NE.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to ENOA, Meals on Wheels.
