Obituary for Rudolf "Rudy" Humlicek

Rudolf J. “Rudy” Humlicek, 91 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born October 13, 1931 in Linwood, Nebraska to Frank and Emma (Schmid) Humlicek.

Rudy lived at Linwood and Fremont. He served in the US Army from September 11, 1951 to September 10, 1953 in Japan and Korea. He then returned to Fremont and started with the Fremont Fire Department. Rudy married Harriet L. Kunneman June 3, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Bennington, NE. In 1991 he retired from the fire department after 28 years of service.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rudy enjoyed gardening and polka dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Harriet of Fremont; daughters, Linda (Ron) Klein of Naples, Idaho, and Connie (Jon) Stevenson of East Norriton, Pennsylvania; sister, Bonnie Kadavy of Weston, NE; sisters-in-law, Nadine Humlicek of Yutan, NE, and Rita Humlicek of New Castle, NE and 2 grandchildren, Zak and Nik Klein.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Victor, Frank, Ed, and George Humlicek.

The funeral will be 11 AM, Friday May 19, 2023 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be on Friday 1 hour prior to the service at Mosers’.

Burial and military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20 will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
