Obituary for Thomas "Tom" Burgoyne
Thomas “Tom” J. Burgoyne, 70 of Fremont, NE, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Dunklau Gardens. Tom was born August 4, 1950 at St. Paul Minnesota to John Sr. and Helen (Howat) Burgoyne.
He moved to Norfolk, NE at the age of 14. At 14 he met Gary Becker and helped build the body shop building. It was here, that his love for cars developed and he also began to race Moto Cross. Tom served in the Army reserves for many years. He married Karna Clausen on May 6, 1972 in Norfolk. They moved to Wichita Kansas, where Tom worked at Lystads Pest Control. The couple came to Fremont in 1986. In March of 1986 they purchased Tom’s Beverage and he operated the store until his retirement. He was an avid fan of the Huskers, NASCAR Racing, gardening, and hosting large parties.
Survivors include his wife Karna; son, Thomas Burgoyne, Jr; daughter, Heather (Robert) Jensen all of Fremont; brothers, John Burgoyne, Jr. of Gilbert, AZ, Dennis (Joan) Burgoyne of Annandale, MN; grandchildren, Samantha Muller, Katelyn (Matt) Hewlett, Jesse Jensen; adopted granddaughters, Lindsay Winter and Missy Hammond; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, also at Moser Memorial Chapel. Interment at a later date.
Military honors conducted by Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 & American Legion Post #20 following the funeral.
Masks are requested by the family for those attending the service and celebration.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial yet to be determined.
