Obituary for Virginia "Virgie" Eurek (Jakob)
Virginia L. (Virgie) Eurek, 82 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.
Virginia was born May 16, 1938 at Loup City, NE to Walter and Elizabeth (Guzinski) Jakob. She grew up at Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School. She moved to Omaha, NE for a short time and then returned to Loup City. Virginia married Jerome Eurek on November 29, 1958 at Loup City. They were married for 62 years. In 1960 the couple moved to Fremont. She was employed at First State Bank and Trust in Fremont for 44 years in the loan department and retired as Finance Officer.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. She enjoyed bingo and loved to shop. Virginia and Jerry enjoyed dancing, especially the waltz. Virginia was a loving wife and wonderful caring mother. Most of all she adored her grandchildren and loved spending every moment with them. Getting together with her family was very important to her.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Jerry; son, Larry (Lori) Eurek of Fremont; daughter, Cathy Goebel of Lincoln, NE; sisters, Dixie Placek of Omaha and Judy Kaminski of St. Paul, NE; sisters-in-law, Renee Jakob of Fremont, Janie (Garry) Husk of Fremont and Mary Ann Eurek of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Ray (Janet) Eurek of Phillips, NE and 4 grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Goebel, Olivia Swanson and Michaela Eurek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jake Jakob; brothers-in-law, Virgil Kaminski, Tiny Placek, and Jim Eurek; and great granddaughter, Izellah Engnell.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, May 7, 2021 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
