Obituary for William "Bill" Anderson

William Clayton Anderson (Bill), 83, of Kennard Nebraska, passed from this life to eternal life on Sunday, August 21, 2022, joining his wife of 61 years, with his children by his side.

Bill was born on November 7, 1938 in Grand Island Nebraska, the son of Roscoe and Helen Anderson. Bill had 2 younger brothers, Robert Anderson and Jerry Anderson.

Bill was raised in Kennard Nebraska, graduating from Kennard High School. He was very active in Baseball, Basketball and Track. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy on his 18th birthday. He served three years active duty. He was chosen to play baseball with his shipmates representing the U.S.S Dixie. He was an Electricians Mate.

Bill went on to work at San Diego Gas & Electric Company for many years. It was during this time that he attended National University in the evenings, earning his Master’s Degree in Business Management. Following that, he worked in purchasing for a private electrical company, worked in the scrap metal business, then worked for Solar Turbines Inc as a Senior Buyer, allowing him to travel to many countries world wide. It was here that he retired while living in East Texas. He moved shortly after retirement back home to Kennard, Ne.

Bill married Glenda Hamlett on June 18, 1960. They raised 3 children, David Anderson of Hoskins NE, Joyce Denning of Omaha NE, and Sheryl “Sherry” Dinkins of Arlington, NE. They shared 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Bill had many hobbies. His biggest passions were waterfowl and deer hunting, fishing, softball and golf. He also loved table games, camping, cooking, and being around friends and family. Bill never met a stranger, always fun to be around, had a smile everywhere he went. Always willing and happy to help when called upon to do so. He loved Jesus with his whole heart and would make sure everyone knew it.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 12 P.M., Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Arlington Auditorium in Arlington, NE. Friends and family will be gathering until 4 P.M..

The Family asks that contributions be made to the Kennard Fire and Rescue Dept. He was and still is greatly loved and missed by many. Private family graveside will be held at the Kennard Cemetery.
